Job Summary

Intermediate Pavement Consultant in the GTA/Mississauga hybrid workplace. Responsible for executing pavement/geotechnical investigations and design reports, developing field-work plans for boreholes/coring/test pits, conducting pavement condition surveys, borehole/core logging, data processing and pavement designs for new construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, widening, and resurfacing using AASHTO 1993 and MEPDG methods. Will perform geotechnical assessments, manage project budgets and invoices, and collaborate with senior pavement/geotechnical engineers. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (post-graduate degree is a plus), minimum 3 years of experience (Ontario consulting preferred), ability to write reports and present information, familiarity with MTO OPSS/OPSD/SPs, and valid Ontario driver’s license. PE license is an asset; travel willingness is expected; strong Office skills are required. The role operates in a hybrid model with three days in-office per week in Mississauga, Ontario.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pavement Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Material Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the Pavement/Geotechnical Engineering field, with at least 2 of those years in the consulting industry in Ontario is preferred
  • Experience with AASHTO 1993 and MEPDG methods for designing flexible and rigid pavements would be considered an asset
  • Familiar with pavement related MTO’s OPSS, OPSD, SPs and Municipal standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Access)
  • Valid G Class Ontario Driver’s License

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pavement Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Material Engineering or equivalent
  • Post-graduate degree is an asset
  • Professional Engineer License is an asset
  • Experience with AASHTO 1993 and MEPDG methods for designing flexible and rigid pavements would be considered an asset
  • Familiar with pavement related MTO’s OPSS, OPSD, SPs and Municipal standards
  • Maintaining meaningful involvement in professional organizations is strongly encouraged
  • Experience with non-destructive pavement testing (e.g., friction testing, Falling Weight Deflectometer, Ground Penetrating Radar) is an asset
  • Project management experience and technical expertise with pavement analysis/engineering/design using Municipal standards, MTO, and AASHTO methods
  • Ability and willingness to travel for work as needed
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
