Job Summary
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, investigate criminal and suspicious incidents, and enforce local, state, and federal laws. Conduct vehicular and foot patrols, gather and log evidence, and prepare incident reports. Arrest and transport suspects, handle emotionally disturbed persons, and write citations while testifying in court. Safely maintain proficiency with department-issued weapons and assist the public with community policing resources. This full-time role requires US citizenship, age 21 or older, a valid driver's license, and either 60 college credits or two years of sworn police experience. Applicants must submit a birth certificate, driver's license, transcripts, and MCOLES licensing documentation to apply.
Required Qualifications
- Citizenship of the United States of America
- At least 21 years old at time of hire
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum of 60 semester hours of college credits at time of hire OR at least two years of full time sworn police officer experience
- Licensed by MCOLES or licensable under MCOLES standards
- Currently enrolled in a MCOLES licensed Police Academy or Police Licensing Program (if not currently licensed)
- Successful completion of all academy training and passing the state licensing exam
- Meeting criminal history requirements
- Meeting background check requirements
