Job Summary
Monitor at-risk patients for 12-hour shifts in a hospital environment while patrolling the building and grounds to protect staff, patients, and visitors. Respond quickly to emergency and non-emergency situations, verbally intervening during crises and physically restraining individuals when necessary to prevent injury or property damage. Escort persons and assist client personnel while maintaining vigilance for activities that could result in injury or loss. Write accurate reports, communicate effectively with diverse people including patients and vendors, and enforce all client and company policies. Work variable hours up to 40+ days per week, requiring alertness under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency
- Security guard experience and or caregiving experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable jurisdictional security license(s) or certifications and/or client/contract specific licenses or certifications
- Ability to complete all training and pass all competency tasks in the allotted time period to include, but not limited to, TEAM training, Tarian company and client new employee orientation and security procedures and policies
- Ability to work and interact with a variety of people including, but not limited to, Tarian company employees, client employee, patients, visitors, physicians and the general public
- Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English language proficiently
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Proficient in basic computer skills such as MS Word, Excel and email with the ability to learn other programs such as security incident management software and/or client specific software
- Maintain regular attendance in accordance with Tarian company's attendance policy
- Excellent customer service skills and genuine desire to assist people and provide protection
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for variable amounts of time throughout an assigned shift
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects 25 pounds or more
