Job Summary
Patient Visit Specialist coordinates visit closure activities and ensures seamless patient care coordination. Responsibilities include optimizing scheduling for accuracy and efficiency, coordinating specialty and radiologic procedures, obtaining prior authorizations/referrals per payor protocols, ensuring ROI processing and HIPAA-compliant records, performing appointment reminders and rescheduling, communicating with ordering clinicians when scheduling constraints apply, managing patient check-out areas, and handling backend patient balances. Requires advanced scheduling expertise, proficient use of the EMR (EPIC competency), strong organizational and multitasking abilities, and superior patient-facing customer service.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- Experience in the medical office, hospital, or clinic with patients and providers preferred
- Proficiency in prior authorization/certification/referral process preferred
- EPIC competency for Registration at completion of Epic Clerical Training class
- Medical terminology training or equivalent within six months of hire
- Annual competency exam for responsibilities
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to use EMR for scheduling, documentation, and communication
- HIPAA privacy compliance
