Job Summary
Initiate and maintain visual monitoring of inpatients with identified safety risks via the video tele-monitoring system. Observe the visual stream and notify assigned nursing staff per the Patient Safety Observation Policy if issues arise requiring response. Record monitoring initiation on the VMT Monitor Log, including patient name, unit, and reason, while documenting verbal patient cues and calls to nursing staff. Utilize the audio component to verbally redirect patients to modify at-risk behaviors. Place all visual monitoring logs in the patient record at discontinuation. Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in ongoing activities to incorporate results into practice. Functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a nursing assistant or patient care tech program
- Six (6) months of acute care or twelve (12) months post-acute care nursing assistant experience
- current or former state CN A certification as proof of completed training
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
