Patient Transport Dispatcher

Job Summary
Coordinate and dispatch hospital patient transport staff to ensure safe, timely movement of patients, equipment, and materials. Prioritize transport requests, monitor staff availability, and assign tasks based on urgency and workload. Communicate with nursing units and clinical departments to coordinate movements; track activities and delays for reporting and quality assurance. Respond to urgent STAT requests promptly; maintain real-time awareness of hospital operations to resolve bottlenecks. Assist in training new dispatchers or transport staff; provide excellent customer service to internal departments and patients. Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience with dispatching, logistics, or scheduling systems is a plus.
- Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is an advantage.
