Job Summary
Monitor patient vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, heart rate, and oxygenation via pulse ox or ETCO2, reporting abnormal values to the registered nurse. Assist patients with personal hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, and elimination needs while implementing fall prevention measures. Accurately document inputs and outputs. Adhere to safety protocols, infection control, and medication administration policies within the scope of the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. Schedule includes day shifts with potential weekend, holiday, and on-call work in a 12-bed Cardiovascular ICU recovering post-surgery patients.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant or Nursing Fundamentals course
- Current or former CNA certification as proof of completed state required training at time of hire
- Current or former CMA certification as proof of completed required training at time of hire
- Successful completion of Prisma Health unit secretary course and training within 90 days of hire
- Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements (TJC, SC DPH, CMS)
- Knowledge of the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act
- Adherence to all compliance and policy/procedures of the organization including licensure renewal, assigned training, employee health screenings, time and attendance policy, dress code policy, patient confidentiality, infection control, medication administration
- Ability to be scheduled for weekend, holiday, and on-call work
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant or related experience
- One year hospital clerical experience
