Job Summary
Greet patients, route incoming calls via the 2nd-floor switchboard, and register inpatients, outpatients, and emergency room patients in the E.H.R. Assist nursing staff with admission, discharge planning, and individualized care plans while performing daily patient care under supervision. Accurately document vital signs, patient observations, and clerical shift functions including oxygen charges and portal enrollment. Reinforce patient education, perform housekeeping and stocking duties, transfer radiology images, and participate in data abstraction and quality improvement initiatives. Maintain a safe environment by reporting risks and adhering to infection control policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate
- Practical Nurse license
- EMT license
- BLS Certification
- Medical terminology skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Organizational skills
- Team and interdepartmental communication skills
- Good hand dexterity for typing, writing and other clerical duties
- Talking and hearing to converse with patients, visitors and staff
- Near visual acuity for detail work and ability to verbalize and hear verbal communications
- Color vision for perceiving changes in patient skin color
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development
- Ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient's status
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department
- Ability to assist in admissions process as directed by nurse
- Ability to register the patient in the E.H.R.
- Ability to perform patient cares under supervision and/or direction of Charge Nurse
- Ability to accurately and promptly communicate patient observations to appropriate personnel
- Ability to reinforce and assist nursing staff with patient discharge plan
- Ability to assist with implementing individualized patient care plan within scope of practice
- Ability to accurately record required patient information during admission, stay and discharge process
- Ability to perform daily clerical shift functions
- Ability to document vital signs and patient care within their scope of practice
- Ability to participate in data abstraction
- Ability to preform radiology digital image transferring when needed
- Ability to abide by departmental safety policies and guidelines related to PCU care delivery
- Ability to maintain safe environment for patient, staff and visitors
- Ability to accurately and promptly report and record safety risks, concerns and incidents
- Ability to reinforce and assist nursing staff with patient education within scope of practice
- Ability to answer PCU desk phone and coordinate team communication
- Ability to perform housekeeping duties as needs arise
- Ability to perform stocking and maintain supplies as needs arise

Desired Qualifications
- 1-2 years healthcare experience preferred
