Job Summary

Greet and register patients, collect co-payments and insurance information, and verify documentation in practice management systems. Schedule new and existing patients accurately, prepare charts for outreach events, and manage communication with patients, families, and clinic staff. Handle switchboard duties including accepting calls, coordinating interpreters, and transferring referrals. Maintain a working knowledge of health care plan requirements and networks. Work every Tuesday, one Friday per month, and alternating weekends from 2:00pm to 8:00pm at the Brooklyn Park clinic location.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Customer Service experience
  • Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 or more hours per day)
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment
  • Ability to lift and carry office supplies or files weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents
  • Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer)
  • Ability to comply with company policies, procedures, practices, and business ethics guidelines
  • Ability to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
  • Ability to demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance
  • Ability to work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally in face-to-face, phone and email interactions
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Must be available for every Tuesday 4:30pm-8:00pm
  • Must be available for one Friday per month 4:30pm-8:00pm
  • Must be available for every other Saturday and Sunday 2:00pm-8:00pm
  • Must be able to work out of the Brooklyn Park location
  • Must be able to work part-time (0.26 FTE)
  • Must be able to accept, handle and transfer calls
  • Must be able to coordinate interpreters for clinic appointments
  • Must be able to coordinate patient referrals
  • Must be able to collect co-payments, pre-payments, insurance information, and photo ID
  • Must be able to verify and document insurance information as defined by current business practices
  • Must be able to schedule new and existing patients in the practice management systems
  • Must be able to communicate appointment information, directions, check-in times, referral information and copayments to patients
  • Must be able to prepare for outreach events
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of health care plan requirements and health plan networks
  • Must maintain timely communication with patients, families, employers and clinic staff
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
