Job Summary
PATIENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE MEDICAL in Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center handles patient check-in/out, updates demographics and insurance data, collects payments, assists with Sliding Fee Scale enrollment, schedules appointments, and supports the Patient Services department. Responsibilities include answering multi-line phone lines for patient billing, appointments, and general inquiries; verifying eligibility; processing forms such as New Patient paperwork and Sliding Fee applications; cash management and daily reconciliation; preparing various medical forms and ensuring data accuracy; providing translation support when needed; and collaborating with staff to ensure high-quality patient service and efficient operations. Requires strong communication, attention to detail, English fluency (bilingual encouraged), and experience in medical office or billing settings; high school diploma or equivalent; 1-3 years in a medical office; healthcare administration and customer service experience; certification substitutions may apply.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years’ experience in a medical office
- Experience in healthcare administration, financial intake, customer service, and answering telephones
- One-year experience in medical billing preferred
- AAPC, NCICS, CHCS or CPC certification may be substituted in lieu of required experience
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- One to three years’ experience in a medical office setting
- One-year experience in the medical billing field, preferred
- Experience in healthcare administration, financial intake, customer service, and answering telephones
- AAPC, NCICS, CHCS or CPC certification may be substituted in lieu of required experience
