Job Summary
First point of contact for patients at the clinic, responsible for processing patient demographics and insurance information accurately in person and coordinating with scheduling, referrals, and medical records. The role requires on-site presence due to real-time collaboration with providers, interaction with patients and caregivers, and secure handling of health data per HIPAA. Essential duties include scheduling and rescheduling in the EHR, check-in/out for appointments, verifying insurance and obtaining pre-authorization when required, updating clinic schedules, and serving as the point of contact for the medical records department. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, and EHR systems, plus strong communication and organizational skills, are required. This is an on-site, patient-facing role with the schedule Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm, and potential overtime.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years of related medical clerical experience or completion of a medical secretarial program (nine months up to two years accredited program)
- Knowledge of HIPAA and other compliance requirements (preferred)
