Job Summary
Greet patients warmly, gather insurance information, and process co-pays at the point of service. Generate fee slips, enter data into the EHR system, and answer telephones to screen calls and route inquiries. Direct and escort patients to physician offices, assist with mobility equipment, and provide appointment instructions while monitoring the work area for safety and security. Work urgent care hours as required and perform other duties as assigned. This full-time role at Tanner Clinic in Antelope A involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day with occasional standing or walking.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish immediate rapport with patients
- Ability to get appropriate information to route calls to the appropriate person
- Ability to calms, or defuses irate callers and patients by working with them to identify concerns and properly directs calls
- Adequate hearing to answer phone and speak with patients
- Ability to speak clearly and loudly enough to be heard by callers and patients
- Knowledge of basic computer skills
- Knowledge of basic mathematics skills
- Knowledge of individual responsibilities to accurately direct callers
- Knowledge of medical terminology and organization services
- Skill in using multi-line phone system, including transferring calls
- Skill is providing excellent customer service
- Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder
Desired Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year of experience in customer service or reception in a health care environment preferred
- Previous healthcare experience and/or familiarity with medical terminology helpful
- Experience with business office equipment (credit card machines, fax machines, printers, etc.) preferred
