Job Summary
Provide support services to patients and staff while assisting with direct patient care, including ambulation, dressing, and turning/repositioning. Participate in decontamination of patient care areas and equipment. Liaise with patients and visitors on a regular basis to demonstrate excellent customer service and maintain good public relations with Hospital staff. Work under pressure to handle various tasks within a limited time frame while using all personal protective equipment. Requires two years of related health care experience and ability to work with high patient acuity.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 11 or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario Ministry of Education
- Must have knowledge and ability to assist with direct patient care as required including ambulation, dressing, and turning/repositioning
- Ability to read and write English
- Two (2) years of related health care experience
- Must be accustomed to high patient acuity
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure and to handle various tasks within a limited time frame
- Flexibility and willingness to take direction
- Must be prepared and able to use all personal protective equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Applicants who have a PSW Certificate will be given priority
- Sunnybrook PSP (formerly PSA) course preferred
- Recent PSP experience preferred
