Job Summary
Conduct administrative and secretarial functions to obtain patient demographic and insurance information, facilitate scheduling, and manage referrals and authorizations. Process telephone calls, interview and pre-register patients, and enter data into billing systems while accurately coding visits to maximize reimbursement. Ensure positive customer service in the reception area, collect payments at the time of visit, and maintain a clean, safe environment with daily supply replenishment. Support performance improvement initiatives, assist in departmental compliance for regulatory surveys, and act as a preceptor to new hires. Rotate shifts, standby, or work on-call as needed, with local travel between System locations expected.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education
- Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system
- Strong leadership ability
- Good organizational skills
- Independent and critical thinking skills
- Sound judgment
- Knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
- Cognitive ability to function and concentrate on the essential and specialty functions of the job at a high level
- Ability to think and concentrate for an entire shift
- When lift requirement is in excess of 50#, lift assistance (2 person) and/or transfer device is required
Desired Qualifications
- Previous outpatient office experience
- Two years' experience in a medical/billing/fiscal or customer service function
- Medical terminology and third-party health care coverage experience
- Experience in Healthcare setting
