Job Summary
Patient Services Assistant responsible for clerical support to practice operations including handling calls, scheduling, registration, and copay collections; duties include greeting visitors, screening calls, scheduling appointments, data entry of patient demographics and insurance, verifying insurance and referrals, assisting with MyChart registration, managing high call volume, and ensuring accurate accounting of payments and deposits; requires customer service orientation, knowledge of medical terminology (preferred), strong communication skills, multitasking, and ability to work in a team within a hospital environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalency
- 6 months of related experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
- Customer service skills
- Ability to perform non-complex arithmetic
- Organizational and multitasking abilities
- Proficiency with data entry and scheduling
- Ability to work in a normal office environment
- Ability to collect and verify insurance information
- Experience with MyChart/EPIC (implies)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to handle high telephone volume
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work across multiple practices
