Job Summary

Patient Service Representative in Radiation Oncology handles insurance verification, including benefits coverage and pre-authorization, verifies referrals and prior approvals, reviews bad debt and denials, educates patients on billing and clinic policies, and communicates with insurance carriers and patients to ensure timely payments. Responsibilities include preparing account action worksheets, submitting corrections to Patient Accounting, maintaining billing proficiency, providing excellent customer service, entering patient demographics and coverage data, and supporting coverage at other Springfield Clinic locations. Requires strong communication, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and knowledge of Medicare and third-party payors; high school diploma or GED required; 2–3 years of medical billing/insurance experience preferred. Compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies is required.

Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate or GED required
  • 2-3 years experience in medical billing and insurance preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicare, medical assistance and other third party payors
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
