Job Summary
Greet visitors, patients, and families professionally while directing them appropriately and maintaining efficient patient flow through the registration process. Answer telephone calls, take accurate messages, and inform patients of physician schedule delays. Process self-pay charges, collect payments, reconcile daily collections, and open/close batches accurately. Scan insurance cards, verify benefits online, update patient demographics and HIPAA forms, and schedule appointments according to department guidelines. Enter orders for diagnostic tests and procedures, complete referrals, and communicate concerns promptly to the Office Supervisor. Perform various clerical duties including faxing, scanning, and filing, while demonstrating flexibility to cover other staff or commute to satellite offices as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Must have the ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner
- Basic proficiency in computer use
- Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed
- Physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items
- Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job
- Dexterity of hands and fingers
- Balance is maintained during climbing, bending and/or reaching
- Endurance (e.g. continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking)
Desired Qualifications
- Associate Degree
- Previous PSR experience
- Knowledge of medical office and terminology
- Previous experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment
- Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems
