Patient Service Representative

Job Summary
Greet patients and visitors, register new and established patients, and collect co-pays and sliding fee payments while verifying health benefits and submitting prior-authorization requests. Direct patients to appropriate departments, communicate wait times, and schedule follow-up visits using established templates. Balance daily collections and answer incoming calls to ensure positive customer service experiences. Adhere strictly to HIPAA guidelines and practice policies. Work in an office environment with frequent personal and telephone contact, rotating through day, evening, and weekend shifts as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have reliable transportation
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience working within a healthcare setting
- Associate's degree in business, or healthcare related studies
- Ability to analyze situations and solve problems at strategic and tactical levels
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
- Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
- Practiced at organization and planning
