Job Summary
Patient Service Representative provides front-line connection between Intermountain Health and patients, handling patient intake, greeting and check-in/out, verifying demographics, scheduling appointments and referrals, collecting insurance information, and assisting with billing and regulatory forms. Responsible for documenting calls in EMR, ensuring accurate patient data, facilitating insurance coordination of benefits or prior authorizations when needed, educating patients on financial assistance, processing payments, and maintaining privacy of PHI while delivering courteous, professional customer/patient service over phone, in person, or via secure messaging. Works with clinic teams to ensure high-quality experiences and continuous improvement through collaboration, data entry, and adherence to procedures. Requires solid communication, computer literacy, critical thinking, and the ability to work with patients and caregivers to meet their needs while maintaining confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Six months of customer service experience involving interactions with customers
- Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver the highest level of customer/patient satisfaction
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers
- High school diploma or GED preferred
