Job Summary
Greets patients arriving for their appointments, registers walk-in patients, verifies and updates patient demographics and insurance information, and collects estimated out-of-pocket costs. Ensures accurate insurance benefits, completes registration, follows financial-clearance processes when needed, and schedules follow-up visits. Requires knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and third-party payer requirements, HIPAA and EMTALA rules, and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Demonstrates effective communication, attention to accuracy, and the ability to work collaboratively to maintain efficient patient flow and high service standards in a 40-hour workweek.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Patient access (scheduling, registration and financial clearance), insurance verification, billing or certified medical assistant experience preferred.
