Job Summary
Answer the telephone, handle patient registration, post payments, and process charge entry for multi-physician hospital outpatient practice patients. Perform medical records processing, ICD-9 & CPT coding, and third-party payer requirements while assisting physicians and other personnel as needed. Maintain strict confidentiality of highly sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA protocols and ethical standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Competence and knowledge of duties within the medical office setting
- Ability to file
- Ability to answer the telephone
- Ability to perform patient registration
- Ability to post payments
- Ability to perform charge entry
- Ability to schedule
- Knowledge of third-party payers requirements
- Knowledge of ICD-9 & CPT coding
- Ability to process medical records
- Ability to make patient contact
- Ability to perform transcription
- Ability to assist other personnel and physicians in all departments as needed
- Ability to handle and protect highly confidential patient information
- Knowledge of HIPAA requirements
- Adherence to the highest level of ethical standards
