Job Summary
Greet patients and families, process registration forms, and verify insurance information while collecting co-pays and payments. Answer incoming calls, direct patients to staff, and manage appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations. Maintain daily activity logs, balance payments against encounter forms, and input visit data from encounter forms. Perform clerical duties including pulling charts, filing records, and organizing paperwork. Ensure patient confidentiality when handling medical records. Maintain a pleasant waiting room atmosphere and communicate clearly with patients, staff, and physicians.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to use office equipment satisfactorily and handle paperwork/filing adequately
- Skilled in patient-service principles by creating a pleasant waiting room atmosphere
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public
- Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and other customers
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral written instructions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Knowledge of reception tasks, care center policies/procedures, paperwork
- Knowledge of how to use office equipment including phone, computer, copy machine
- Knowledge of patient service concepts and techniques
Desired Qualifications
- One year of prior experience in a medical setting
