Patient Service Associates - Cancer Center Registration

Job Summary
Coordinate and participate in clinic preparation, patient check-in/out, charge posting, cash management, and patient appointment scheduling within Duke Health’s Cancer Center registration workflow. Provide strong customer service, assist with referrals and ancillary scheduling, review and prepare patient charts, enter pre-visit orders, manage medical records/documents (HIPAA/Medicare), verify patient information in Maestro Care, and educate patients on required forms. Responsibilities include reviewing next-day patients, handling insurance cards, auditing encounter forms for completeness, coordinating labs/procedures, explaining billing policies to patients, and processing payments and co-pays. Requires basic PC/data entry skills, knowledge of medical terminology, effective communication, and the ability to follow departmental policies for patient information, payments, and records. Education typically completed at high school level; minimum one year of relevant experience in a healthcare-related service environment preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of work experience in directly communicating and activities, preferably in a healthcare related field
