Patient Service Associate - Information Center

Job Summary
Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties related to patient services and clinic operations, including patient check-in/check-out, charge posting, cash management, appointment distribution, referrals, and preparation; use Maestro for patient and visitor wayfinding; communicate effectively with patients, guests, and colleagues; maintain HIPAA privacy; assist on patient information lines; identify patients with special needs and arrange wheelchair transport; document special requests and forward to Concierge; escalate patient advocacy concerns to Patient Visitor Relations; demonstrate empathy, friendliness, and clear communication; flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays; strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks across multiple roles within the clinical setting.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of work experience in directly communicating and providing service to patients or the public, preferably in a healthcare-related field
- Experience coordinating multiple tasks or activities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic PC and data entry skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette
- Ability to walk/stand for long periods and travel between Duke clinics and hospital locations
- Ability to maintain HIPAA privacy guidelines
- Professional appearance and compassionate interaction with patients, guests, and vendors
