Job Summary
Plan, organize, and facilitate programs to ensure clinical departments follow Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals and MWHC's patient safety program. Collect clinical data and conduct chart reviews to identify opportunities for improving patient safety outcomes and practice variation. Assist in creating a culture of safety by communicating with nursing, administration, and medical staff leadership to ensure regulatory compliance. Drive improvements by identifying trends using performance data, leading investigations for serious safety events via Root Cause Analysis, and preparing annual reports on error occurrences. Coordinate staff orientation and continuing education programs while managing error/event reporting through a non-punitive system. This role supports the strategic goals of Mary Washington Healthcare, a Great Place to Work-certified organization prioritizing patient and associate safety.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Valid RN License from Virginia in good standing or hold a current multistate licensure privilege as an RN
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience
- Constant (67-100% of workday) sitting and use of arms and hands
- Occasional (0-33% of workday) standing, walking, bending, squatting
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 10 lbs.
- Auditory and visual skills
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
- Annual flu vaccine
