Job Summary
Greet patients, maintain timely flow, and obtain demographic and insurance data to complete registration. Enter verified patient information, collect co-pays, and explain payment procedures while initiating required documents for scheduled procedures. Perform insurance verification, schedule exams with appropriate symptom and diagnosis details, and prepare paperwork for efficient service. Answer phones, transfer calls, and provide reports or images on CD to patients or physician offices. Follow established policies for department cleanliness, assist in the Hereditary Cancer Risk Assessment program, and interact with carriers and medical staff to ensure accurate information.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of customer service experience in a medical setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Quality assurance and customer service principles and practices
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers
- Capacity to relate to patients of all cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient records
- Ability to understand and follow specifications and instructions
- Attention to detail is required for success
- Basic keyboard skills with proficiency in use of personal computer
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
- Must be available for on-call every 5th Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Must be available for Mon - Fri 8:45 AM - 5:15 PM
