Job Summary
Greets patients and visitors at the facility entrance, directs them to appropriate destinations, and answers telephone inquiries. Conducts patient registration, eligibility checks, and collects payments while entering data into eCW and securing funds in the safe. Explains processes and forms, reminds patients of appointment details, and communicates with medical staff regarding visits. Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and ensures all areas remain neat and clean. Requires bilingual English and Spanish skills, a high school diploma, and one year of customer service and billing experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- Current, unrestricted New Jersey operator license issued by the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles
- Ability to efficiently and effectively use public transportation in order to be able to travel to other sites as needed
- Minimum of 1 year experience in customer service field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in collecting money or billing and insurances
- Knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Word
- Ability to work with very little supervision
- Ability to adapt quickly to unanticipated changes in work flow or work process, or frequent changes in insurances rules and coverage changes
- Ability to understand, carry out, and remember verbal and written instructions
Desired Qualifications
- College credit or additional education in medical field or insurance and billing courses
- Experience in a clinical/ambulatory care setting
