Job Summary
Greet patients, visitors, and families while collecting demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility. Coordinate administrative tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and calling reminders. Communicate with patients and caregivers to respond to inquiries regarding routine and sensitive topics. Utilize electronic health records to enter, access, and verify patient data and insurance benefits in real-time. Generate and analyze patient data reports, following up on inconsistencies. Assist with patient escorts, wheelchair transport, and interpreter services throughout the facility. Uphold strict confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA, PHI, and ePHI requirements. Maintain a current insurable driver's license and possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Customer Service experience or related work involving regular customer contact
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to interact in a customer-focused and compassionate manner
- Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint)
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, clinical staff, and administration
- Ability to maintain patient confidentialities at all times and adhere to any and all HIPAA, PHI, and ePHI requirements and regulations
- Current insurable driver's license
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk and hear
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- Reading, distance, computer, and color vision
Desired Qualifications
- Experience performing customer service in a medical setting
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Bilingual skills in English and the Keres native language
- Prior experience working with Indian Health Services (IHS), a Tribe or Tribal Organization
