Job Summary
Receive new service requests via phone, fax, or other channels and obtain all necessary information to process referrals according to established procedures. Confirm insurance coverage, gather eligibility and authorization details, and obtain pre-authorization when required. Accurately complete patient records in the computer system, document clinical information, and communicate status with referral sources, hospital liaisons, pharmacy, nursing, and billing personnel. Maintain the pending referral log daily, attend morning rounds to discuss patient status, and ensure accurate billing information is recorded for timely claim submission. Respond to assistance requests from internal teams, track expiring authorizations, and consult with the Admissions Director on unfamiliar situations or decisions outside your scope.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business, Health Care Services, or Medical Sales
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in healthcare industry
- Strong working knowledge of first- and third-party payer requirements as it pertains to the billing and collection industry
- Excellent management, communication, interpersonal, team-orientation, organizational and analytical skills
- Prioritization and multi-tasking skills
- Proficiency with problem resolution
- Self-motivated and self-disciplined
- Computer aptitude
- Mathematical aptitude
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience with a home care company
- Prior home infusion experience on the provider or payer side
