Job Summary
The Patient Records Clerk will manage the facility's medical records, including preparing, storing, and retrieving patient records, reviewing records for compliance with approved policies, filing records, and responding to requests for information. Responsibilities include preparing closed records for storage, auditing and indexing records, filing numerically and alphabetically, retrieving records, collecting and tallying data, typing discharge summaries, participating in quality improvement activities, maintaining confidentiality, and performing other duties as assigned. Required skills include computer data entry, familiarity with records management software, attention to accuracy, and clear communication.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or comparable experience
- Computer literate with data entry ability
- Experience in auditing, managing and maintaining patient records
- Knowledge of computer programs used to maintain patient record data
- Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds of records and move between areas
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in spoken and written form
