Job Summary
Patient Reception Specialist responsible for welcoming and preparing patients for appointments, collecting and validating insurance information, explaining services, and ensuring a smooth patient experience. Duties include obtaining insurance cards and authorization documents, performing demographic and insurance validation, maintaining a clean waiting area, collecting co-pays, scheduling follow-ups, and supporting accurate billing and coding. Strong communication skills, proficiency with EMR systems and Outlook, and knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 are required; BLS certification and experience in primary care/urgent care are preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalency required
- Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, or ER preferred
- Adept in medical terminology and insurance practices
- Proficient in computer programs and applications including Outlook and practice EMR systems
- Knowledgeable of CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Current BLS certification for healthcare providers preferred
