Job Summary
The Patient Reception Specialist role focuses on welcoming patients, collecting and validating insurance and demographic information, guiding patients through their visit, and supporting scheduling and billing activities. Responsibilities include obtaining copies of insurance cards and licenses, performing demographic and insurance validation, maintaining organized reception and waiting areas, collecting co-payments and balances, scheduling follow-up appointments, and ensuring clear communication about delays and required services. Proficiency in medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding awareness, and basic arithmetic for balance reconciliation is preferred, along with comfort using Outlook and practice EMR systems. High school diploma or equivalent is required; previous experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, or ER settings is preferred.
