Job Summary
Assist the nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic environment by providing one-to-one observation with continuous visualization to ensure patient safety. Notify the nurse of changes in physical or psychiatric conditions and remain with the patient at all times unless relieved for breaks or meals. Initiate patient activities and social interactions consistent with the nursing plan of care while providing environmental and emotional safety through limit setting and monitoring visitor interactions. Collaborate with the primary nurse to assist patients in testing and consultations, and participate in teaching behavioral techniques such as relaxation and coping skills. Complete required documentation including observation forms and safety checks, and demonstrate competency in managing patient problems like aggression.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years prior experience in Psychiatry and or related field
- Proficient in English both verbally and written
- High School Diploma
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in Psychiatry and or related field preferred
- Working with specialized populations such as emotionally disturbed adults, adolescents and or children and families preferred
