Job Summary
Patient Observer provides constant observation to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients identified as a risk to themselves or others, under the direction of the RN. Responsibilities include observing for changes in behavior or condition with alerts to the RN, completing appropriate documentation, participating in handoffs with RN and other observers, maintaining confidentiality, and performing ancillary duties as assigned. Must maintain active BLS certification, with 0-1 years healthcare experience preferred. The role involves interaction with patients across age groups in the hospital setting (ED/units) and requires clear English communication and basic computer skills. Pay range: $18.00–$24.23 per hour; location: Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham, MA; full-time daytime schedule.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at all times
- 0-1 years related work experience in healthcare or home care preferred
- Basic familiarity with computers
