Patient Navigator Specialist

Job Summary
Serves as the first point of contact for patients, clients, visitors, and vendors, providing a professional, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive experience. Independently initiates comprehensive client registration processes, verifies insurance coverage, creates health records, schedules appointments, and enters data into the electronic health record. Conducts insurance status verification, connects clients to enrollment resources, and assists with scheduling eye exams and specialty referrals while arranging transportation. Performs basic vision screenings, visual acuity testing, and OCT procedures; drives and escorts patients to specialty referrals. Supports clinic operations by assisting with optical adjustments, fitting, and repairs. Works Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4pm with one additional shift per month. Valid driver's license required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a healthcare setting
- Strong customer service and patient advocacy skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with patients, providers, specialists, and community resources
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data tracking
- Ability to identify and address barriers to care and connect patients with appropriate resources
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with insurance enrollment, clinical or healthcare front desk operations
- Experience in eye care
