Job Summary
Patient Navigator to serve as the primary liaison for patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers, overseeing a seamless journey from prescription to ongoing therapy. Responsibilities include inbound/outbound patient contact, enrollment and eligibility guidance, reimbursement support, affordability resources, coordinating with specialty pharmacy and insurers, monitoring case status (prior authorizations, revalidations, renewals), educating patients and families on program resources, and partnering with market access teams to resolve coverage and dispensing challenges. Requires experience in benefits verification and reimbursement processes, strong communication and problem-solving skills, CRM/case management proficiency, and the ability to navigate complex insurance landscapes across private, government, and foundation programs. This role is regionally aligned with a hybrid work policy in Foster City, CA, with travel ~10%, and salary range $125,000-$140,000 USD depending on experience and location.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS Highly Desired
- Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)
- Social Worker (BSW)
- PharmD
- RPh
- equivalent pharmacist credential
- Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) or Case Manager (CCM) preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in patient navigation, specialty pharmacy, case management, or patient access (biotech or rare disease experience highly preferred)
- Experience in benefits verification, prior authorization, and reimbursement processes
- Experience using CRM or case tracking systems (Salesforce Health Cloud preferred)
- Ability to travel ~10%, possibly weekends
- This position is based in Foster City, CA. Applicants must reside in a location which would allow hybrid work
- Experience working in a matrix organization with patient-centric approach
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving skills
- Excellent knowledge of health insurance benefits and applicable laws/regulations
