Job Summary
Patient Navigator coordinates front office operations for an outpatient wound care center and supports a smooth operation of the clinic. Responsibilities include greeting patients and visitors, scheduling, rescheduling and appointment reminders; obtaining and verifying patient insurance (including pre-certifications and pre-authorizations) and entering data in appropriate databases; collecting and entering patient charges and reconciling them as directed; preparing monthly patient survey data and documentation; assembling new patient charts and maintaining existing charts; coordinating/scheduling ancillary testing with hospital departments; arranging patient transportation; maintaining office equipment and medical supplies; and collaborating with Center leadership to maximize daily patient census. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED (Associate’s degree preferred) and a minimum of two years of office administration experience (preferably in a medical setting); prior medical coding experience preferred. Skills and abilities include proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong customer/interpersonal and written communication, organization and time-management, ability to type 60 wpm, attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
- Minimum of Two (2) or more years office administration experience, preferably in a medical setting
Desired Qualifications
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Prior medical coding experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Good customer, interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Organization and time-management skills
- Ability to type 60 words per minute
- Basic math skills
- Attention to details
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and to work on multiple projects at the same time
- Ability to work with others and in a team environment
