Job Summary
Review delinquent accounts for collections, process checks for daily deposits, and prepare patient statements. Discuss payment arrangements with patients, answer the billing hotline, and resolve account To Dos in the billing system. Run reports of daily hospital facility charges, process insurance and personal refunds, and act as a resource for internal customers and new staff. Safeguard OSS information and follow all policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent computer skills
- Working knowledge of entire billing process
- Ability to review and understand written material pertaining to Orthopedics and health care, including terminology and reimbursement issues
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree from a Medical Billing program
- 1-2 years of experience in insurance and billing procedures
- Professional certification through HFMA or AAHAM
- Experience with Medent or CPSI software
- In-depth understanding of contracts and proper payment methodology
