Job Summary
Patient Financial Services Representative at Insight Hospital and Medical Center Chicago supports hospital revenue cycle operations by handling patient billing, insurance follow-up, and financial counseling to ensure timely reimbursement and a positive patient financial experience. Responsibilities include processing inpatient and outpatient billing, payment posting and reconciliations, following up on unpaid claims, resolving denials and coding issues, verifying insurance coverage and Medicaid eligibility, assisting with Medicaid enrollment/redeterminations, counseling patients on charity care and financial assistance, setting up payment plans, and maintaining HIPAA-compliant documentation. The role requires strong customer service and communication skills, knowledge of hospital billing systems and EHRs, and the ability to collaborate with patient access, case management, utilization review, and clinical departments to support financial clearance and access to care.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–3 years of experience in hospital patient financial services, billing, or revenue cycle operations
- Experience with inpatient and outpatient hospital billing preferred
- Knowledge of hospital billing systems and electronic health records (EHR)
- Strong customer service and communication skills in a healthcare environment
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and meet productivity standards
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting
- Familiarity with Medicaid eligibility and hospital-based financial assistance programs
