Patient Financial Services (PFS) Account Specialist - PRN

Job Summary
Manage patient accounting and accounts receivable by processing unclean claims, scrubbing data, and resolving denied claims through third-party support partners and payer communications. Generate aging reports, troubleshoot transmission issues, and maintain working knowledge of 837/835 electronic transactions and appeals processes. Provide regular feedback to management on payer and provider trends to optimize cash flow and ensure timely claim resolution. This PRN role supports departmental goals within Augusta Health's centralized business office, requiring prompt response to correspondence and adherence to productivity standards.
Required Qualifications
- Eligibility to work in the United States and meet Virginia state employment requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
Desired Qualifications
- Certification through AAHAM, AAPC, HFMA or other nationally recognized revenue cycle association
- Medical or accounting experience
- Knowledge of third party and governmental billing/collection techniques
- Prior experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or related service-oriented environment
- Familiarity with Augusta Health's systems, workflows, or organizational culture
- Excellent computer and communication skills
- Adaptable to change

- Experience in Microsoft Office products
