Job Summary
PFS Customer Service Support Representative responsible for self-pay patient account maintenance and customer support beyond the inbound queue. Requires strong office/administrative skills, knowledge of healthcare billing and revenue-cycle concepts, and proficiency with EPIC/OnBase/Microsoft Office. The role emphasizes patient balance resolution, effective communication, confidentiality, problem solving, and ability to work independently in a high-volume environment. Telecommuting is possible; when on-site in VT, orientation at the South Burlington office is preferred. Shift is 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week. Education: Associate degree in Business preferred or related healthcare/customer service experience; experience in an office setting and familiarity with medical terminology and billing rules are expected. The position is a bargaining union role with a strong commitment to non-discrimination and equal opportunity.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Business preferred or 3 years health care/collections or customer service experience
- Experience in an office environment
- Familiarity with EPIC, OnBase and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of federal/state and/or contractual/ commercial billing rules and regulations for hospital and physician billing
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT4 & ICD10 coding practices
- Understanding of Fair Debt Collection Practices as applicable to health care
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a high-stress call center environment
- Ability to learn new skills in a changing healthcare environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with multiple systems simultaneously
