Job Summary
Patient Financial Counselor responsibilities include easing the resolution of patient accounts through financial clearance, payment collection, sponsorship, and financial assistance. They identify eligibility and complete/submitting applications for State and Federal sponsorship programs, and perform eligibility determinations for Providence St. Joseph Health Financial Assistance. The role requires interaction with patients and families via phone or in person, and aligns with Providence's mission and values. Epic experience is preferred, and healthcare finance terminology familiarity is advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Two (2) or more years experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare business office
- Minimum of three years experience required, or proven success as a Patient Financial Advocate Associate, preferably with Providence St. Joseph Health or it's Affiliates.
- Two (2) years experience in automated, computerized account follow-up system required, preferably in Epic.
