Job Summary
Patient Financial Counselor duties include easing the path to resolution of patient accounts through financial clearance, payment collection, obtaining sponsorship, and financial assistance. They identify eligibility, provide education, and complete/submit applications for State and Federal sponsorship programs, and assist patients by making eligibility determinations for Providence St. Joseph Health Financial Assistance. This onsite, day-shift role supports a patient-focused Revenue Cycle team and requires interaction with patients and families in person or by phone, using Epic and other systems.
Required Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- 2 years' experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare business office
- 3 years' experience or proven success as a Patient Financial Advocate Associate, preferably with Providence St. Joseph Health or its Affiliates
- 2 years' experience in automated, computerized account follow-up system, preferably in Epic
