Job Summary
Manage patient account problems by working directly with individuals to identify payment solutions, utilize sliding fees, and initiate the discharge process. Provide guidance on accessing discount programs, applying for Medicaid, setting up payment plans, and qualifying for charity care and fully funded programs. Coordinate the discharge process according to policy, estimate patient responsibility amounts using specialized tools, and handle collection activities including generating letters and responding to patient calls. Maintain established billing policies while staying current on state and federal guidelines. This role supports patients in overcoming financial barriers to care within the clinical facility.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree, three years relevant experience, or comparable combined education and/or experience
- Experience with telephone collection calls
- Work with aged accounts receivable
- Extensive computer experience
- Advanced computer skills including MS Excel and MS Word
- Spanish-speaking skills
- Regular attendance on-site
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm schedule (or flexed)
- 40 hours per workweek
- Weekend, holiday, or evening coverage availability
- Flexible work hours to respond to special assignments
- Valid, original I-9 documents
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption
