Job Summary
The Patient Financial Advocate screens patients on-site at hospitals for eligibility assistance programs (State, County, Federal) bedside or in the ER, initiates enrollment applications, and connects patients with Firstsource services. Responsibilities include reviewing census/referrals to identify self-pay patients, documenting results in the hospital system and onsite tracking tool, conducting face-to-face screenings when possible, performing on-site field work including patient home visits, and ensuring timely follow-up and positive relationships with hospital staff and patients. Requires reliable transportation for coverage at onsite and nearby sites and adherence to confidentiality and corporate compliance policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1 – 3 years’ experience of medical coding, medical billing, eligibility (hospital or government) or other pertinent medical experience is preferred
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Must have basic computer skills
