Job Summary
Screen self-pay patients on-site at hospitals in Fresno, CA, to identify eligibility for State, County, and Federal assistance programs. Initiate bedside applications when possible, document results in onsite tracking tools and hospital systems, and transition accepted cases to backend specialists. Conduct face-to-face screenings or telephone outreach for outpatient/ER accounts, perform home visits as required, and maintain accurate logs of referred accounts. Provide information on payment arrangements and financial well-being options while adhering to compliance policies. Work weekends and odd hours as needed, maintaining confidentiality and positive relationships with hospital staff.
Required Qualifications
- MUST BE BILINGUAL IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH
- up to date immunizations
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must be able to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time
- Must be available for holidays or odd hours
Desired Qualifications
- 1 – 3 years' experience of medical coding, medical billing, eligibility (hospital or government) or other pertinent medical experience
- Previous customer service experience
