Job Summary
Greet patients and guests, conduct check-in/check-out via EHR, and collect co-payments while verifying insurance. Answer and triage incoming calls, make appointment reminders, and reschedule as needed. Process referral requests from PCPs and specialists, schedule appointments, and communicate prep instructions. Verify insurance authorizations, monitor open referral reports, and follow up on pending consults. Ensure referral documentation is complete, notify providers of missed appointments, and coordinate surgical clearance. Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure smooth office operations and participate in interdisciplinary discussions on patient care plans. Maintain patient confidentiality and address concerns as they arise.
Required Qualifications
- Office Administrative/Receptionist/Clerical/Customer Service experience in a fast-paced, heavy phones environment
- Professional demeanor and communication
- Must be organized and attentive to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Resourcefulness in problem solving
- Able to take and follow through with assigned tasks and accountability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Full COVID-19 vaccination (including boosters)
- Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with an electronic health record
- Experience in processing referral authorizations
- Medical office or hospital patient access registration experience
- Experienced working in medically underserved/culturally diverse communities
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of ICD-20 and CPT coding
- Bilingual Spanish and English
