Job Summary
Transport newly admitted patients to assigned rooms and deliver clinic records, admit forms, and charge cards to nursing units and ancillary departments. Locate and maintain department equipment, then transport patients to and from hospital or clinic ancillary departments using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds as requested. Safely transport discharged patients and belongings from nursing units and ancillary departments while adapting communication styles to specific patient populations. Work the 7:00 am to 3:30 pm shift, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards. Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support certification
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals
- Basic reading, writing and math skills
- Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands
- Manual dexterity
- Must be able to stand up for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities
