Job Summary
Screen prospective patients for cataract and refractive surgery by providing in-person or virtual screenings, balanced education, and counseling regarding surgical benefits, intraocular lens options, and payment structures. Facilitate pre-appointment contact via email, phone, or text to share information and videos, then meet with patients prior to physician evaluation to discuss vision goals, daily activities, and eye anatomy. Act as a liaison between patients and physicians by communicating candidacy details, ocular history, and treatment interests while coordinating seamless patient transfers. Maintain relationship management systems through data entry, marketing support, and follow-up on non-closed leads using tracking tools. This role supports the ATIOL program development and requires flexibility for occasional travel to satellite offices.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
- Ability to work weekends when applicable
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
- Ability to climb
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred
- Experience in financial counseling
- Experience working with insurance
- Ophthalmology experience
