Job Summary
The Patient Coordinator ensures smooth patient flow in an oral surgery practice by greeting patients, checking in/out, scheduling, and communicating with patients and clinical staff. Responsibilities include managing patient interactions, updating EHR records, coordinating referrals and diagnostic tests, verifying insurance and handling prior authorizations, handling billing and co-pays, preparing forms, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and customer-service skills are essential to provide a patient-centered experience and support the clinical team.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalency, required
- Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in patient coordination or administrative roles, is highly desirable
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other office software
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in healthcare
